A simple prayer is all you need for God to answer you.
I believe in prayer. In spite of the vastness of His universe, God made it easy for humans, his Master Creation, to commune
with Him. It is called prayer, talking to God. It is not complicated. It is very simple.
As a Christian, I find that the model of prayer Jesus gave us is more than sufficient to open the doors of heaven. He stated in
Mathew 6:9-13: After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom
come. Thy will be done in earth, as [it is] in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we
forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and
the glory, for ever. Amen.
The King of Kings, Lord of all creation, who had communion with God the Father from the beginning, helps us to come boldly
before God by following these simple steps:
Acknowledge the Father-In His Heavenly throne, He is holy. He is sublime and awesome.
Request His Kingship over us-Invite his mighty Kingdom to influence and shape our lives.
Request His Perfect will over us-As He wills it in heaven, so His will be done on earth.
Request His daily provision- Just as He gives our daily bread, He will meet all our needs.
Request His forgiveness-He will freely forgive our debts, but we must forgive our debtors.
Request His Protection-Temptation may come but he will deliver us from the evil one.
Acknowledge His Authority- It is all about Him: His Kingdom, his power, His glory!!!!! Amen.
Jesus' recipe for answered prayers is 5 simple requests surrounded by 2 acknowledgements of God's greatness!!! It's so
easy and yet so sweet!!
One of my most fulfilling exercises during my times of prayer is simply meditating and looking back at my life's journey as I
acknowledge God's goodness. I may have entered into prayer with my spirit down, but after "viewing" my life from my childhood
to the present, after seeing that despite so many painful trials and tribulations His hand never left me, after seeing how he
healed my wounded heart, after counting all His blessings, wow!! Father, you have been so wonderful to me. Thank you,
Jesus!
Now almighty God, gives you the following promise: "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts
of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.
And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:11-13.
So do yourself a favor, talk to Him. He is waiting for your call. "And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye
shall receive." Mathew 21:22. Be blessed.
The smallest of miracles may be the greatest.
1997 was a rough year for our family. Unemployment had reared its ugly head and we were desperate. Our refrigerator was
totally empty. We could not afford a glass of milk. My wallet contained pieces of paper, but none of them was green. You could
not get any lower than that.
Our plight did not escape our 9 year-old son. He must have seen his helpless dad and decided he must do something abut it
But what could he do?
Later, as I sat on the couch drowning in my sorrow, I saw that boy approaching and saying, "Here, dad, take this money that I
had saved. I know you need it." Eight whole dollars!!! I was stunned! I answered, "Papito, you don't have to do that. It's your
money. It's all you have. I would never dream of taking it." But he insisted and would not take no for an answer. He won out
and I accepted the money, tears rolling down my eyes.
I rejoiced as I headed to the store, unable to fathom what I had just witnessed. From the unlikeliest of places my need was met
for today. Eight million dollars could not replace those eight dollars my son placed in my hands. God is good!
Today, my son, now the college student, continues to carry a mantle of generosity. He reaches out and shares the love of
Jesus Christ with those around him. He doesn't boast. His actions speak louder than words. In the meantime, he studies
Computer Science, works his part-tine job, practices for the Sunday Choir, and chats with his lovely girlfriend He carries an
easy smile and is quite friendly And I keep getting the flashback of a 9 year-old being used of God to perform a small, yet huge,
miracle.
As you may well imagine, times got better and we overcame that year. I may have paid my son those eight dollars, but I could
never repay him for what he did: Through the smallest of gifts, he gave what he had and more, his unconditional love for a
hurting father. Son, I love you!!!

A Gift may arrive late, but Love can also make it arrive early.
Late in the year 1985, there was a new doll craze prior to Christmas: the Cabbage Patch Kids. Parents scrambled all over the
place in order to buy this much desired doll. The supply simply ran out just a few days before Christmas. You could not find a
Cabbage Patch Kid doll no matter where you searched. My wife and I searched all over the county looking for one. We were
told that the doll would return to the store shelves sometime around January or February 1986. What a bummer. We informed
our four-year old daughter that “Santa” would bring her the Cabbage Patch Kid the following Christmas of 1986. She was
actually grateful that she would at least see the doll she wanted in a year.
I lied to her, you see, on February 1986 I went to a large toy store and found the elusive doll. I rushed home and knocked on our
door. My daughter heard it was me, opened the door and, surprise!!!!!!!!!!!! She loved “Marissa” and took good care of her for
many years. What joy!
Heck, as any loving father would do, I gave my daughter an early gift. I was able to do it, I wanted to do it, and I did it.
Friends, if we just turn our hearts to our loving heavenly Father, He will turn to us. He loves us unconditionally. He is able meet
our needs, He wants to meet our needs and He will meet our needs. We just have to believe Him. It is with great joy that he
reaches out to us, His children. Just call Him. He will answer: “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice
and opens the door, I will come to him and dine with him, and he with me.” Revelation 3:20. God bless you.
